Alliott Group Chairman reports on another successful mission to Nicaragua.
Alliott Group Chairman, John Jones, has been visiting Nicaragua with his Church group for a number of years to provide much needed support to local communities. During this recent trip, the mission ran 3.5 days of clinics down the Rio San Juan.
Nicaragua is the 2nd poorest country in the western hemisphere and this river area is the poorest in Nicaragua. The 26,000 residents are served by five poorly staffed and equipped health centers. They receive no eye/vision care whatsoever. The mission saw 1,079 patients and gave out 1,300+ prescription eye glasses and 700 pair of sunglasses. And as usual, those doing the serving got a lot more out of the mission than those we served.
