On May 17th, Fairleigh Dickinson University bestowed the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, upon our colleague, Mark A. Meyer.
Meyer Honored; Tells 12,000 gathered at FDU Commencement that
"the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
Lauding his wisdom, courage and compassion, the University citation reads, in part: “Fairleigh Dickinson applauds you as an honored son for embracing the promise of other cultures, working tirelessly to promote the rule of law in a developing region and building international relationships based on mutual cooperation.”
In his commencement address to the over 12,000 persons gathered at the IZOD Center in the Meadowlands, New Jersey, Mark told the nearly 3,000 graduates that “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams,” and he urged the students to “do something in your life that you will be able to take pride in when you turn 90.”
