AGA is one of the largest professional services alliances in Africa with law and accounting firm coverage in 17 countries.

Muvingi & Mugadza have seconded their Junior Associate Simbarashe Mariwande to SST Attorneys for a two-week program which commenced on 29th January. A formalised staff exchange program is one of several resources set up by AGA to support members’ internal recruitment and retention programs.

Simbarsahe joined the corporate law department at Muvingi & Mugadza in 2022 after studying for his law degree at Wits University, South Africa. During his time at SST Attorneys Simbarashe will be working with the commercial law and M&A teams and will be mentored by Managing Director Louis Stroebel.

AGA internships provide many benefits to a secondee, including offering an understanding and appreciation of a different country’s legal and accounting cultures, services, and professional ethics. It also facilitates knowledge sharing which can enhance the capabilities of both firms taking part in the exchange, building those important connections that can ultimately lead to future partnerships and business opportunities and referrals.

Nobert Phiri, Partner at Muvingi & Mugadza comments:

“As a member of AGA with a presence in almost 100 countries, we wanted to pioneer a project that gives true testament to the statement “Together as One” and as a client-oriented firm that values continuous professional development, it is important for us to empower and equip our young professionals with diverse knowledge and skills to better serve our clients.
“We hope after his experience with SST Attorneys, Simbarashe will bring back a wealth of experience that will help us to improve our service offering.”

More details about Simbarashe’s time in South Africa will be published after the conclusion of the staff exchange program.

As well as providing support with internships, AGA has a growing number of additional resources and events to support members’ recruitment and retention programs. Members are encouraged to lever these resources to nurture their talent and to connect them to their peers in other cities and countries across the world.  These can be found in the members' area of AGA's website under HR toolkit.
