California CPA firm's 'Countess of Communications' makes Accounting Today's '100 most influential people' list
Accounting Today has named Geni Whitehouse of US CPA firm Brotemarkle, Davis & Co in their 'Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting'.
Brotemarkle Davis & Co., LLP (BDCo) our St Helena, CA accounting firm member, and a specialist advisory firm to the wine and hospitality industries, is pleased to announce that Geni Whitehouse, the firm’s “Countess of Communication” has been recognized by Accounting Today as one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting”. The designation is, according to the editors of the publication, intended to be a “clear-eyed assessment by our editors of the individuals who are having the biggest impact on the current state and the future direction of the profession.”
The publication had this to say about her impact on the accounting profession, “Whitehouse spends her days ‘banishing boring,’ and she’s certainly anything but, lending excitement and interest to every field she touches, whether it’s accounting for wineries, communicating complicated subjects, or, most recently, helping accountants move away from compliance work to higher-value-added services.”
A consulting member of the 'BDCo' team since 2007, Whitehouse has worked closely with the firm’s managing partner, Craig Underhill, in creating and delivering free training to Napa Valley wineries and in delivering specialized Mentor Plus Level 5 Advisory services to their customers. At BDCo, Whitehouse has been able to practice what she preaches both inside the firm and with customers as she pursues her mission of helping leaders and their teams make sense of financial concepts through applied technology and improved communication.
September has been a memorable month for Whitehouse, who is a frequent speaker at events around the country, as the recognition was announced in the same month in which she successfully delivered her first International Keynote presentation in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Her topic, which was presented with the help of a translator to a Portuguese-speaking audience, was “Building Your Dream Firm in the Cloud” and included only a single signature basset hound image to make her point. An author and instructor, Whitehouse is known on the speaker circuit as one who draws freely from her southern heritage and her childhood experience raising basset hounds as a way of de-mystifying complex subjects.
