Marmors pushing each other hard in race for top spot!
Head of Private Client Services Nicole Marmor, has received a Tier 1 ranking in the prestigious Legal 500 directory and praised for her extremely competent manner. Meanwhile, Paul Marmor's litigation team have also received plaudits for their services, ensuring a friendly rivalry in the Marmor household!
Nicole Marmor's recognition follows that of colleague Carolle Harris, who last year was described by the Legal 500 as combining technical excellence with the ability to communicate clearly and sensitively.
The department is described by the directory as providing excellent advice, which is given without delay, communicated properly and always salient, to suit the client’s needs. The practice is also noted for its strong international client base, advising private individuals across Russia, India and the Middle East on Will preparation and tax and estate planning (as well as handling a broad range of trust work, assisting with the establishment of life-interest, charitable and disabled and discretionary trusts).
Furthermore, the department has been cited by the highly prestigious high-net-worth specialist private client directory published by Chambers.
Super six for Sherrards in dispute resolution
Not to be outdone, Paul Marmor heads the firm’s litigation practice, which has been described by the Legal 500 as "an excellent firm for commercial litigation; it has the strength and depth of a City law firm without the price tag. The highly-competent team works very hard for its clients, analysing all problems with speed and clarity and putting forward reasonable options."
The directory also states that Paul Marmor "inspires confidence, taking a calm and balanced approach to drive forward a resolution agreeable for both parties; he has significant experience handling complex, multi-jurisdictional litigation."
We are also delighted to see that litigation partner, Karen Dobson, is described as an "unflappable and determined litigator who always goes the extra mile", while Marta Grieve, who heads the Russia & CIS desk, is "especially good in international arbitration and fraud litigation matters." Recent addition, Simon Morgan, has "notable expertise in criminal matters."
Paul and Karen have also been rated as “leading individuals” by Chambers, together with newly-promoted litigation partner, Barney Laurence, and senior associate Gemma Newing, which means that, across the two directories, the litigation department have had six individual lawyers recognised, which is pretty exciting for the firm.
Recognition for property, employment, commercial and franchising teams
Chambers and the Legal 500 have also recognised Terry Fendt, Charles Hodder and Asha Ngai of our Real Estate department, Mark Fellows from Employment, Leigh Head, Jean-Paul da Costa and Geraldine Fabre from the Corporate department, alongside Manzoor Ishani who is described by the Legal 500 as “the senior statesman of franchising”.
Alasdair McMillin, Sherrards’ Managing Partner, comments: “All in all, a good year’s account in the legal directories, reflecting the views of the legal industry, clients and peers, and we thank our client base for their continued support. As for Paul and Nicole, it is certainly true that two Marmors are better than one!!”
