As announced in the Budget Speech 2022 and implemented by the Finance (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2022, the Government has re-introduced the Tax Arrears Settlement Scheme (TASS) in Mauritius.

Under TASS, taxpayers will be able apply for the full waiver of penalties and interest on outstanding tax arrears, subject to the following conditions:

  1. The tax arrears should be outstanding as of 7 June 2022 under the Income Tax Act, the Value Added Tax Act, or the Gambling Regulatory Authority Act, and payable under an assessment issued or a return submitted.

  2. Application under the scheme should be made with the Mauritius Revenue Authority no later than 31 December 2022.

  3. All tax arrears, net of penalties and interests, should be settled on or before 31 March 2023.

Please Note:

Taxpayers can also benefit from TASS if they have assessments pending before the Assessment Review Committee, the Supreme Court, or the Privy Council. However, they should withdraw their cases and inform the relevant institutions to be eligible.
